The Hovercraft Project | Meet The Chase Family

The Chase Family’s Vision for a Brighter Tomorrow

Behind The Hovercraft Project stands the Chase Family—a team of dreamers, educators, and innovators committed to transforming the way students experience STEM education. Their program isn’t just about building hovercrafts; it’s about building confidence, curiosity, and skills that will last a lifetime.

The Chase Family understands that today’s classrooms need more than textbooks. By integrating science, technology, engineering, and math with real-world applications, they’re helping students unlock their potential while making learning exciting and engaging. Every aspect of The Hovercraft Project is designed to spark curiosity, foster collaboration, and encourage students to think critically.

Matt used to be a 5th/6th grade math and science teacher - and realized that kids work best through project based instruction. The idea of a hovercraft started in a classroom and has developed over the last 20 years into a fully-immersive, 5 hour STEM project.

He and his wife, Jenni, and their two daughters are based in Sarasota, Florida. For about 6-7 months of the year, they travel all over the United States in a big (obnoxiously blue) bus, helping kids learn to love to learn. It’s truly a family business.

Their dedication to education extends beyond the classroom. The Chases work tirelessly to ensure that their programs are inclusive and impactful, empowering educators and inspiring students nationwide. With a focus on STEM innovation, they are laying the foundation for a brighter, more innovative future.
